(Boston) – The fourth annual Sue Kim Hanson Lecture in Immunology will take place Wednesday, September 14, at 4 p.m. at Keefer Auditorium, Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM). The lecture, titled, Cell-Mediated Immunity in Influenza, will feature Nobel Laureate Professor Peter Doherty, Ph.D., AC, FAA, FRD, from the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Melbourne in Australia, and co-leader of the Infection and Host Defense Program at St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
Dr. Doherty’s lecture will focus on factors that modulate and enhance the immune response to viruses, such as influenza and HIV.
The annual lecture is in honor of Sue Kim Hanson, MA, Ph.D. ’02, a former researcher in BUSM’s Pulmonary Center. Hanson, along with her husband and daughter, were passengers on one of the planes that crashed into the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
