Boston, MA — At 8:30 next Wednesday morning, a year after two airliners crashed into the World Trade Towers in New York City, the sound of a chime will reverberate across Marsh Plaza in the heart of Boston University. The chime, specially set up in the Plaza, will be struck regularly every few minutes for the next hour and a half.
Boston University has scheduled several events and opportunities for worship, prayer, and contemplation at Marsh Plaza throughout the day so that people can remember and reflect on last September 11th. In addition to striking the chime, these include Jewish (Orthodox), Islamic, and Hindu prayer services, a multidenominational worship service and a Catholic mass, a chapel kept open most of the day for prayer, and a candlelight “Vigil of Remembrance” in the evening. Additional events are scheduled through the next week.
The day’s events are free and open to the public. The Boston University home Web page has a link, “We Remember,” that displays a photo gallery and other information from similar activities held last year.
