Oscar-winner Margaret Lazarus to Screen New Documentary at Boston University

Boston, MA — “Rape Is…,” a new documentary by Academy Award-winning filmmakers Margaret Lazarus and Renner Wunderlich of Cambridge Documentary Films, will be screened Wednesday April 24 at 4.00 p.m. Boston University’s College of Communication (COM).

Lazarus, who received her master’s degree from Boston University, and Wunderlich will discuss the film and its topic with the audience following the screening. The 34-minute video is presented in subtitled sections and includes individual stories and expert commentary.

“Rape Is…” explores the less recognized forms of sexual abuse. The film also looks at the global and historical perspective surrounding the crime and violence of rape. It includes interviews with experts and victims of rape and sexual assault and abuse.

Lazarus and Wunderlich received their Oscar in 1994 for their documentary film “Defending Our Lives,” a film about eight women imprisoned for killing their domestic abusers.
