Boston, Mass. — The Boston University Young Alumni Council will bestow its annual Alumni Award to Peter Paige, star of Showtime’s groundbreaking “Queer as Folk” series and Amy Eldon, a documentary writer and producer, on Saturday, October 13.

Paige, who graduated in 1991 from the University’s School for the Arts with a bachelor of fine arts degree in theatre acting, summa cum laude, is an accomplished actor, director and playwright who has worked on numerous productions in New York and at regional theatres around the country. In addition to his current role on “Queer as Folk,” Paige has appeared on other shows such as “Suddenly Susan” and “Will & Grace.”

On Saturday, October 13, Paige will also host “A Talk with Peter Paige,” a discussion with current Boston University Theatre Arts students at the Huntington Theatre, 264 Huntington Avenue, from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.

Eldon, who graduated in 1997 from the College of Communication with a bachelor of science degree in broadcasting and film, wrote and produced the documentary “Dying to Tell the Story,” which tells the story of her brother Dan, a Reuters photojournalist who was killed in Somalia in 1993 while covering the country’s crisis. Eldon’s documentary, which she developed while in college and produced for Creative Visions and Turner Original Productions, received international praise and aired on TBS. Also, with her mother Kathy, Eldon wrote the book Angel Catcher, a journal of loss and remembrance, published in August 1998 by Chronicle Books.
