(Boston, Mass.) — The Women’s Health Group at Boston Medical Center, under the direction of Dr. Karen Freund, has received the prestigious Award for Excellence in Outstanding Comprehensive Services in Ambulatory Services from the National Association for Women’s Health (NAWH). The award was presented this past week at NAWH’s 13th annual Executive Summit on Women’s Health.

The award recognizes accomplishments in the field of women’s health. It celebrates benchmark programs and outstanding efforts that further the goal of improved health care for women across the country.

Under Freund’s leadership, the Women’s Health Group at Boston Medical Center has become an effective, high service-oriented team of providers. She has built meaningful, productive collaborations across many disciplines in order to provide patients with the best, most comprehensive care available.

According to Elaine Ullian, CEO and president of Boston Medical Center, Freund’s work in service delivery, education and research embraces the Hospital’s core mission of providing care to all regardless of ability to pay. “Because she is passionately committed to excellent patient care, Dr. Freund is respected by her colleagues and students as a superb teacher. She is a doctor who practices and models what she teaches,” said Ullian. “She is extremely deserving of this award,” she added.
