(Boston, Mass.) – An exhibition of recent paintings by Nadine Zanow will be on exhibition at Boston University’s Sherman Gallery March 14 – April 23, 2000.
Born to immigrant parents of Germanic and Slavic extraction, Zanow was raised with what she characterizes as “threads of old country values and nostalgia blending with the American environment and energy to result in a unique weave.”
After receiving her MFA from Boston University in 1996, Zanow received a Fulbright Fellowship and traveled to Bulgaria where she painted, studied Bulgarian and engaged in research in monasteries, churches, and at folk festivals. She studied icon restoration with Ljuba Krassovska Rainova and worked with Geno Genev, a printmaker of the Union of Bulgarian Artists.
