Senior Research Scientist Position Available at Boston University – Posted Sept 20, 2018

The Lab of Jerry Chen at Boston University is hiring a Senior Research Scientist to be involved in several multi-year BRAIN Initiative related NIH and NSF funded projects. These projects focus on understanding cortical computation during behavior by combining large-scale population recordings, anatomical reconstructions, and transcriptional profiling as well as developing tools for large-scale and high-speed imaging of neuronal populations. This person will help to manage multiple projects, carry out experiments independently in support of these projects, be a technical resource for students and post-docs in the lab, and help in the planning of future studies.

A PhD and several years of post-doctoral experience in neuroscience is required. Previous first author publications are also required for consideration. Programming experience in either MATLAB, Python, C++, or LABView is also required.

Ideal candidates should have wide-ranging expertise in several of the following techniques: two photon imaging, electrophysiology, optogenetics, animal behavior, optical engineering, software engineering, electron microscopy, large-scale data analysis, genome engineering, and transcriptional profiling. We are seeking individuals with experience in project management, ability to promote a team-driven research environment, and excellent oral and written communication skills. This position is ideal for advanced post-docs looking for continuing opportunities for further career advancement.

Our lab is located on the Charles River Campus and is affiliated with the Department of Biology and Department of Biomedical Engineering. We have active collaborations and interactions with labs in the greater neuroscience community in the Boston area including the Center for Systems Neuroscience and Center for Neurophotonics at Boston University as well as Harvard Medical School and MIT.
