The first step for any summer research opportunity at BU is to find a lab to work in. Many are listed on our website under Research Opportunities. The best approach is to contact someone in the lab whose research is of particular interest to you and ask if they would be willing to take on a student over the summer. Once you’ve been accepted in to the lab, you will come up with a project to work on (often times it will coincide or piggyback off of an existing project). At this step, you should fill out the application(s). The Faculty Sponsor is the head of the lab you are interested in working in and you must have their signed permission to work there over the summer included in your application.
