Training Updates

In June 2009, the NEIDL obtained a permit from the City of Boston to occupy the facility’s office spaces and to conduct training and simulation exercises without using any hazardous materials or live agents.

A community meeting was held on October 7, 2009 to provide an overview of the simulation and training exercises and describe what will take place over the next several months as the exercises commenced. Attendees were also given a demonstration of some of the protective equipment that researchers wear in the BSL-4 laboratory.

As part of the limited and initial occupancy of the building, administrative, scientific, environmental health and safety, public safety, animal care, information technology and facility staff were given NEIDL Orientation Training.  All new NEIDL employees will be required to complete this Orientation as part of their new employee entry plan.

Training updates are posted regularly on this site.
