Clinical Research Trials

Cardiomyopathy

STICH- Principal Investigator: George Philippides, MD

The Surgical Treatment for Ischemic Heart Failure (STICH) is a multicenter, international, randomized trial which addresses two hypotheses in patients with clinical heart failure with LVEF </=35% 1) Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) vs. medical therapy improves long term survival compared to medications alone. 2) In patients with anterior LV dysfunction, surgical ventricular restoration (SVR) improves survival (free of subsequent cardiac hospitalizations) vs. CABG alone.
