Cardiomyopathy

    ACORN- Principal Investigator: Richard Shemin, MD

    The Acorn Trial is a multi-center, prospective, randomized, unblinded study. The Acorn Cardiac Support Device (CSD) is an implantable mesh-like jacket intended to provide diastolic support of the ventricles. This trial will determine whether the implantable CorCap, Cardiac Support Device stabilizes heart size, improves functional status, and quality of life for patients with dilated cardiomyopthies. Randomization will be done separately for two groups, those requiring a mitral valve and those not. NYHA III -IV with LVEF </= 35% and if 3+ mitral regurgitation is present LVEF </=40%.
