A goal of the MVP is to carry out research which supports and guides improvements in the health care delivery system. Our research efforts, such as the development of Variability Methodology, which serves as a basis for the Program, provide a strong theoretical foundation for applying the tools and techniques of Operations Management (OM) and Operations Research (OR).
However, our efforts go beyond theory by performing research that allows us to understand and measure the practical effects of operational inefficiencies and improvements on the health care delivery system and its interrelated components. This allows for the appropriate application and dissemination of findings and best practices to those parts of the health care delivery system that would most benefit from specific operational improvements.
