The Management of Variability Program (MVP) develops and participates in a variety of education and training programs aimed at teaching health care providers and administrators principles and tools of hospital operations improvement to reduce their expenses, increase revenue while enhancing quality of care.
Among both managers and providers, there is currently a lack of understanding of the available operations management methodologies and lack of understanding of the counterintuitive nature of the management decisions and their implications on cost and quality of care.
Some of these operation management approaches, including Variability Methodology, have been developed by MVP faculty. Understanding of these decision-making processes must be expanded in order to successfully implement system improvements.
