The department congratulates doctoral candidate Basil Considine for his recent awards:
- Basil has been awarded a Short-Term Graduate Research Abroad Fellowship (GRAF) Award by the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. This award will fund one month of research in France.
- Basil has been awarded two Graduate Student Awards by the BU Center for the Humanities. These prizes, the Angela J. and James J. Memorial Award, and the Alice M. Brennan Humanities Award, will be used to fund the completion of his doctoral dissertation on the music of Mauritius.
The department also congratulates doctoral candidate Ulrike Präger on her recent conference acceptance:
- Ulrike will present a paper entitled “Germany Divided within: Music for Identity Reconstruction in the ‘Sudeten-German’ Assimilated Diaspora” at the Thirty-Sixth Annual Conference of the German Studies Association. This conference will take place from October 4-7, 2012 in Milwaukee, WI.
