Degree Offerings
The MS in Photonics is one of three MS degree programs offered in the ECE
Department. Students can also pursue the MS in Computer Systems Engineering or
the MS in Electrical Engineering, both of which accept photonics courses as
electives. ECE offers ABET-accredited Bachelors Degree programs in
Electrical Engineering and Computer Systems Engineering. Ph.D. study leads
to the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, the Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, or
the interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Systems Engineering. Students with Photonics interests can
also pursue the Ph.D. in related disciplines, e.g. physics, chemistry, or
astronomy.
- Bachelor of Science study
-
ABET accredited programs in EE and CSE are offered in a four-year
program of study. Internships, study abroad, and extensive minor
programs allow you to create a degree program that fits your career
interests.
- Master of Science study
-
In addition to the MS in Photonics
our ECE Department offers masters degree work in EE and CSE. Students
lacking the prerequisite background of a typical EE or CSE grduate may want
to consider the Late Entry Accelerated Program (LEAP). LEAP students
take initial coursework to fill missing prerequisites, without completing a
full BS degree, and then advance to MS study. A LEAP path for the
MS in Photonics has been defined,
and is adjusted to each applicants particular background. See
http://www.bu.edu/eng/leap/
- Ph.D. study
-
Students can continue their study of photonics at the Ph.D. level
through the various Ph.D. programs offered in Engineering and the other
departments collaborating in the Photonics Center.
