Abstract: In this talk, I will discuss the effects of voltage variations and device aging across a wide operating range of voltage and frequencies. The dynamic phenomena need dynamic techniques that include sensing and adaptation. Besides discussing some types of sensors, I will present a dynamic variation monitor that tracks the voltage, frequency and temperature. The measured data in 45nm and 22nm test chips show the effectiveness of this monitor for adaptive techniques. The talk will conclude with a discussion of adaptive circuits for dynamic variation tolerance to improve reliability.

About the Speaker: Dr. Mondira (Mandy) Deb Pant received her B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from I.I.T Kharagpur, India, in 1995. She picked up her M.S. in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Ga., in 1997 and 2000 respectively. She joined Intel in August 2001 as part of the Alpha team acquisition from Compaq Computer Corporation where she had worked since graduating in August 2000. The first couple of years she worked as the Sequential design lead on a next generation Itanium microprocessor. Over the past several years, as a lead technologist in the area of power delivery and power management, she investigated and drove several issues in the power space, particularly on-chip power delivery issues, power management and power reduction on the next generation Xeon server (most recently the Haswell server) and Itanium microprocessors at Intel. She has led Intel’s die power delivery synergy efforts and recently drove Intel’s power delivery Roadmap program. Furthermore, she has also been a key player in driving and deploying Intel’s internal innovation programs. Recently within Intel Labs, she has taken the role of an Academic Research Program Director, working with leading academic researchers worldwide and technical experts at Intel to create and manage research programs in areas of strategic importance to Intel, primarily focusing on devices, circuits, architecture, memory and platforms. Over the years, she has given several invited talks at various conferences and universities, recently as an invited speaker at Design Conference, Keynote Speaker at the GLVLSI conference and Invited Speaker at a Distinguished Lecture Series of talks to graduate students at universities. In 2009, Mandy was recognized by Mass High Tech as one of the top ten upcoming Women to Watch in the New England area. In addition, earlier this year she was recognized by the INDIA New England journal as one of the top 20 South Asian Women of 2013 in the New England area.
