Ted Murphy
Born and raised in New England, Project Manager C. Edward (Ted) Murphy has received two degrees from Boston University. While an undergraduate majoring in English and history, he began his association with the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center (then the Department of Special Collections) working first as a file clerk and later as a junior archivist. After earning his bachelor’s degree, Murphy joined the staff as a full-time archivist. He earned an MBA in marketing and finance and relocated to New York City where he joined the staff of The Foundation Center, creating the Information Control department and later serving as editor of several publications including the Guide to U.S. Foundations, the National Guide to Funding in Aging, and AIDS Funding. In 1995, Murphy was hired by Baseline, a web-based company that provided data for and about the entertainment industry. There, he edited a database of biographies of over 8,000 prominent celebrities and executives, collaborated with Microsoft on its CD-ROM “Cinemania,” and wrote and edited a database of film reviews. A former founding member of the New York Film Critics Online, he is the owner and operator of the website Murphy’s Movie Reviews.
