Tomoko Katayama was born and educated in Hiroshima, Japan. After she taught at a public school and familiarized herself with the Japanese educational system, she came to the U.S. to pursue her master’s degree. With a Master of Arts in Teaching from Tufts University, she has taught Japanese language at Northeastern University and Noble and Greenough School.
While Ms. Katayama continues her career in teaching Japanese as a foreign language, she has an interest in Japanese as a heritage language (JHL) as well. She has been teaching at the Japanese Language School of Greater Boston over ten years.
