Hiromi Miyagi-Lusthaus, born and raised in Tokyo, has been teaching Japanese in the US since 1992. She has taught all levels of students. Before coming to BU, she taught at colleges such as Bates College, Colby College, Macalester College and University of Missouri-Columbia where she was the Coordinator of the Japanese Program. Her interests include intercultural understanding, especially between East Asian people and Jewish people. She is the editor of William De Lange’s A Dictionary of Japanese Idioms (Floating World Editions, 2005). She lives in Brookline with her husband who is a renowned scholar of Yogacara Buddhism.
