Dr. Amber Navarre holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics and an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. She is both a language teacher and a teacher trainer. She specializes in second language acquisition, technology-enhanced language learning, and curriculum design. She was awarded ACTFL/Cengage Award for Excellence in Foreign Language Instruction Using Technology with IALLT (2018), Gitner Award for Innovation in Teaching with Technology (2017) and Blackboard Exemplary Course Program Award (2018). Dr. Navarre has taught Mandarin Chinese at the Pennsylvania State University, University of Colorado at Boulder, and Boston University, for the latter two institutions she also served as the Coordinator of Chinese Program. She has been giving talks and teacher training workshops nationwide. Her current projects involve 1) self-guided online learning, 2) multimodal literacy, 3) project-based learning, and 4) content-based language curriculum.
