Research includes the design, manufacture, and use of deformable mirrors (DMs) in the Precision Engineering Research Laboratory, which is a core facility in the Boston University Photonics Center. The mirrors are important for microscopes and telescopes, and improve their resolution through a process called adaptive optics. Recent projects include: laser modulation using DMs, measurement of retinal images using an adaptive microscope, ion machining of mirror surfaces to improve flatness, and development of a LabView DM controller.
