The machining lab provides an opportunity for students to learn modern manufacturing processes and techniques. It is also used to prototype manufacturing projects, and provides fundamental engineering research support.  As an educational lab, it is used to offer students hands on experience in manual and computerized machining of metallic and composite materials.  The lab emphasizes modern processing machinery and manufacturing aids such as computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM).  The lab provides a safe environment for the students to experience the journey from conceptual CAD geometry and solid modeling to tool paths and numerical control (NC) code generation and finally to a finish machined product.
