The laboratory is composed of the four main elements that comprise an automated manufacturing system: robots and conveyors, numerically controlled machines, sensors and machine vision, and system control. All are computer-integrated, including design and analysis tools. The laboratory provides students with both fundamental understanding and hands-on experience in using state-of-the-art methodologies and equipment. Students work from conceptual design to a ready-manufactured part. The lab facilitates research in prototype design, concurrent engineering, robotic systems, and automated supervisory control.
