Short Biography of Ms. Catherine Lyons
Ms. Catherine Lyons is currently the Customer Support Manager in the Military Systems Operation at GE Aviation in Lynn, MA. Catherine is the responsible “one stop” customer focal point for GE’s military engines in Singapore and Malaysia. Catherine has 26 years of experience in the GE aviation business primarily in the Supply Chain Division and the Small Commercial Projects Group. She has held various positions including Executive Plant Manager for the GE Gear Plant, Manufacturing Programs Manager for Small Commercial Engines, Six Sigma Black Belt, and a multitude of manufacturing operations management roles. Some key accomplishments include managing the start up of Lynn’s first lean manufacturing plant, which involved transforming the workforce to become multi-skilled and self-directed. Recently Catherine successfully integrated two major organizations (600+ employees) by collaborating with the Area Management, Union Relations, and the Union Executive Board to combine the production and development engine assembly and test operations. In addition to her current Singapore and Malaysia responsibilities her international experience has included working revenue share participation with Japan’s IHI and supporting regional and business jet customers Bombardier in Canada and Embraer in Brazil.
Catherine is very active in community service. Among many other volunteer activities, she leads many service projects in the Lynn Woods Municipal Park and serves on the board of the Friends of Lynn Woods. She also initiated and is president of the non-profit North Shore Fairy Godmother Project providing prom wear to teens in need.
Catherine has a BS degree in Operations Research & Industrial Engineering from Cornell University and an MS degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Boston University.
