Short Biography of Mr. Michael Ioannou
Michael Ioannou is a senior executive who has worked with companies on the leading edge of technology and business systems. In his technical executive role, Michael has developed technical organizations to take advantage of global trends and opportunities in product developments, product support systems and business partnerships. During his 29 years of experience, Michael held senior engineering positions with Boeing Canada and Bombardier Aerospace in the aircraft industry. During that period he had responsibility for the development and certification of major aircraft components such as the Learjet 45 Wing, the Global Express Rear Fuselage and the Dash 8 Series 400 major systems. The program management of these projects required unique and innovative ways of scope definition, planning and coordination and control that took into account the global multi-partnership approach to these programs. The multi-site concurrent development approach also required the development of infrastructure tools and processes to support these initiatives.
As a senior Engineering and Product Support executive in the High Tech industry, Michael acted as a change agent to introduce some of the organizational discipline and processes of the more mature aircraft industry without losing the agility required for the fast turnaround cycles of the High Tech environment. Organizational surveys and design, skill-set assessments, product and infrastructure roadmaps and execution were key elements in achieving operational and strategic business goals.
Michael has traveled extensively around the globe in meeting customers, suppliers and business partners. A European by birth, who was educated and lived in Canada for a number of years and currently a legal resident of the USA, Michael is truly an international citizen with an extensive global network. Michael has used his global citizenship and business acumen to develop lasting partnerships within the High Tech industry. At PRI Automation he introduced the concept of risk sharing partnership in new product development with a South Korean partner, and within Axcelis Technologies the development of a new Ion Implanter using multiple partners whose core competencies complimented those of Axcelis Technologies. Also at Axcelis Technologies, Michael was the architect and executor of a technical outsourcing initiative for design services and software development. He worked very closely with the manufacturing organization to develop contract manufacturing for existing and new products. He holds a Master’s Degree in Engineering Science and an MBA.
