Short Biography of Martha Amram, Ph.D.

Martha Amram is Co-Founder, Growth Options Insights and Senior Fellow, Milken Institute. Marth is an experienced consultant, speaker and author with expertise in the valuation and strategy of risky growth projects. She currently is an active investor through Growth Options Insights and a Senior Fellow at the Milken Institute, where she coordinates programs on capital market accelerators for energy security and global warming solutions.

As a consultant, she has worked with Fortune 500 companies and startups on the value of R&D projects, managing the R&D pipeline, valuation of joint ventures and more. Dr. Amram has worked in wide range of industries including semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, and oil exploration. The co-author of Real Options (Harvard Business School Press, 1999, translated into five languages) and the author of Value Sweep (Harvard Business School Press, 2003, translated into five languages), she is a frequent speaker on valuation and growth strategy.

Recent startup experience includes serving as the interim CEO of Vocomo Software and as the Chief Economist of PLX Systems (where her algorithms for valuing intellectual property were written into the company’s software product.) Dr. Amram was a co-founder of Glaze Creek Partners, a consulting firm, which she sold to Navigant Corporation (NYSE: NCI) in 1999. At Navigant she led the real options practice area. Dr. Amram has also prepared expert testimony on valuation and risk while at Analysis Group, Inc. and has been on the faculty at Boston University.  

Dr.Amram graduated from the University of Washington in Economics and Mathematics, with Honors, and holds a Ph.D. from MIT in Applied Economics.
