Title: Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Technology, Features, Status and Applications

Abstract:
Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) have been under development for a broad spectrum of power generation applications. The key characteristics of the SOFC are its all solid state construction and its high operating temperature. The combination of these characteristics leads to a number of attractive features for this type of fuel cell, including clean and efficient generation of electricity from a variety of fuels. SOFC based power systems being considered range from portable ten-of-watt size devices to stationary multi-megawatt power plants integrated with coal gasifiers. This presentation summarizes and discusses several key technological aspects relating to the features, status, and applications of the SOFC.
