Emerging Technology and Best Practices Seminar Series

Speaker: Mr. Scott Gardner (Bio)

Mr. Gardner will trace some of the national and state-level policy trends providing the underpinning for investment and development in the renewable electricity sector. He will then present a brief case study of one of US Renewables Group’s (USRG’s) investments resulting from such policies, the Niagara Generating Facility in Niagara Falls, NY. At Niagara, with Mr. Gardner as the transaction leader, USRG purchased an operating coal-fired power plant and is presently converting the plant to biomass and tire-derived fuel sources. The renovated plant will sell power and renewable energy credits (RECs) to customers in New York State.
