Short Biography of Jeffrey J. Bussgang

Jeff Bussgang joined IDG Ventures Boston as a General Partner in January 2003. Prior to IDG Ventures, Jeff co-founded Upromise, a marketing services firm where he served as President, Chief Operating Officer and Board Director. During Jeff's three-year tenure, he helped the company raise $100 million in venture capital, acquire 3 million members and scale to over 200 employees. Prior to that, Jeff was an executive at Internet commerce software leader Open Market, serving as Vice President of Worldwide Marketing and Business Development, Vice President of Worldwide Professional Services and head of Product Management. Prior to Open Market, Jeff was with the strategy consulting firm, The Boston Consulting Group, and served on the executive team of Athena Design, an object-oriented software start-up.

Jeff currently serves on the boards of PanGo Networks, Brontes Technologies, Click Tactics and Sports Loyalty Systems.

Jeff holds a BA in Computer Science from Harvard University where he graduated magna cum laude and an MBA from Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar and a Ford Scholar.  His blog on helping demystify the venture business for entrepreneurs, "Seeing Both Sides", can be found at www.bostonvcblog.com.
