Seminar Title: Machine Health Monitoring and Predictive Maintenance in Automotive Plants

Fault diagnosis, prognostics and predictive maintenance are becoming an area of primary importance in manufacturing as an efficient way to increase equipment uptime, production capacity and to achieve significant cost reductions while improving reliability and safety of the plant systems.  Innovativepredictive maintenance solutions are based on integration of wide variety of sensors characterizing the health status of the equipment, plant floor networks, and advanced fault detection and prognostic agents enabling remote monitoring and assessment of plant assets.  This presentation discusses some dilemmas related to large scale remote monitoring networks and proposes alternative architectures for incorporation of intelligent machine health monitoring devices within plant floor networks.  It also makes the case for introduction of advanced agent based tools for real time asset reliability assessment, diagnostics, and prognostics within conventional factory machine monitoring systems.
