These photos are roughly in chronological order, and show scenes from my recent visit to Peru to visit Joey.  Some of them will end up on the web page for his Hostal, which is under construction (both the hostal and the web page).

Here is "El Loco" Harold posing in front of the Presidential Palace in downtown .

This was our Hotel in Lima, San Antonio Abad (Joey got the pun immdiately).  Actually pretty good for $30 including a great breakfast

This photo was taken in Casma, the last town on the coast before we started the ascent into the Andes.  Great seafood restaurants!

Welcome to Joey's Andean world.  This is the view of the main house as you walk down into the compound.

A view of the house from the big rock overlooking the river, which is directly behind the photographer.

This is the view through the open front door of the new, smaller house that Joey is just completing on his property.

This is the fireplace and chimney.  Notice the attractive stone mosaic Joey embedded in the masonry!

This is the view of the main house out the window of the smaller house.

Here is the view over the bridge Joey built to the second story of his house.  There is also a staircase inside.

The Andean harp is used in the sad, drunken music of the region.

From the left, clockwise: lemons, garlics, purple onions, tomatos, green beans, small potatos, snow peas, carrots, cauliflower, cucumber, beets, parsley, celery.  Almost everything grows great in Carhuaz!

Harold gets a shoe shine in front of the Cyber-store

This is the main square of Carhuaz.  Before the modern water system was put in, all of the families drew their water from this fountain.  Recently the town added gilded statues of waterdrawers to commemorate this.

Here I am writing the paper I would present at the TESOL conference in Baltimore; "Defusing Cultural Conflicts in the Classroom".  I do my best work in a hammock.

Joey's dog is named Bronx.

Finally, Joey and out good friend Don Raul, scion of one of Carhuaz's oldest familites.  Raul is a big fan of reggae, Jimi Hendrix and San Pedro.
