Community Scholar
Academic Scholarship Program

Calling for applications from graduates of:

Quinsigamond Community College
Bunker Hill Community College
Massachusetts Bay Community College
Middlesex Community College
Northern Essex Community College
Roxbury Community College

Boston University’s Metropolitan College sponsors a scholarship program specifically designed to benefit students pursuing their degree at a community college in the Boston area.

The Community Scholar Academic Scholarship is awarded to students who have graduated from one of these community colleges with an associate’s degree.

A total of 25 recipients of this annual scholarship will receive a 50% tuition scholarship for up to 12 credits per semester while they complete their bachelor’s degree at Boston University’s Metropolitan College. Those selected for the Community Scholar Academic Scholarship will be required to maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above to continue to receive the tuition benefits of the program.

Scholarship eligibility requirements:

 
Associate’s degree from one of the six community colleges specified above
 
GPA of 3.0 or above

To apply, please submit the following:

 
Metropolitan College Undergraduate Admission form
 
Community Scholar Academic Scholarship Application form
Scholarship Essay (may also be used for undergraduate admission)
 
  Address how you first became interested in your area of study. What activities, experiences, people, etc. have fostered this interest? What are your long-term goals, and how will this Community Scholar Academic Scholarship impact your studies at Boston University?
Limit your essay to two, double-spaced typewritten pages – approximately 400 words.
 
Letter of Recommendation
  Please ask an advisor or faculty member at your community college to highlight your academic abilities and accomplishments.
 
Official high school transcript
 
Official transcripts from all schools attended

Please note :

 
Scholarship applications are reviewed each year on
May 1st and 31st, August 1st, and December 1st
 
Only completed applications will be considered
 
Applicants are notified within two weeks of the review date

Applicants to online programs and the Executive Bachelor’s Degree Program are not eligible for these awards. The Community Scholar program is only available to US citizens or permanent residents.
