Douglas Chamberlain (MET’74, GSM’76) President and Chief Executive Officer of Appleton Partners Founder,
Metropolitan College offers a wide range of bachelor degree programs in convenient, part-time evening formats—ideal for busy professionals who seek to earn a Boston University degree without turning their personal lives upside down or putting their careers on hold. Along with a choice of 15 majors, there are two degree completion programs: the Accelerated Degree Completion Program and the online Undergraduate Degree Completion Program.
A variety of undergraduate certificate programs provide the opportunity for focused study in a specific subject. Certificates can work into select degree programs at MET, offer breadth to current studies, or build professional skills and knowledge.

The Accelerated Degree Completion Program (ADCP) is uniquely designed to match the energy and talents of individuals who have risen in their profession without having completed their bachelor’s degree.

The Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS) in Art History at BU’s Metropolitan College combines study in the humanities and social sciences, and complements the natural sciences. The Art History degree program prepares students for careers at museums, galleries, educational institutions, and architectural and planning firms, as well as publishing and municipal or state cultural programs.

The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology provides fundamental knowledge in biological and related sciences. Students learn to appreciate the unity and diversity of living systems and gain an understanding of basic biological principles and processes.

The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biomedical Laboratory & Clinical Sciences prepares students for jobs and careers in the fields of biotechnology and clinical research.

Computer Science programs & information technology (IT) courses for a more rewarding career. Also offered in an Accelerated Degree Completion format of evening & weekend courses.

The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Criminal Justice provides general knowledge of the methods and theories of social science, along with a specialized understanding of criminal activity, policing, corrections, criminal court procedures, and social policy as it relates to crime control.

The Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS) in English & American Literature is a focused liberal arts concentration rather than a professional or pre-professional program. Many students go on to graduate or professional study and find employment in teaching, writing, and editing, as well as in less traditional areas.

The Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS) in History offers study in American, European, African, Far Eastern, Middle Eastern, and Latin American history. History degree students gain skills applicable to many careers, including the ability to criticize, organize, and synthesize extensive materials, and to write with clarity and precision.

The Bachelor of Science (BS)/Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS) in Interdisciplinary Studies provides an opportunity to develop and pursue a course of study centered around a unifying theme, problem, or issue defined by the student.

Designed for working students, the BS in Management Studies is also offered in an Accelerated Degree Completion format of evening and weekend courses in Boston.

Recognizing that mathematical expertise is more important than ever, particularly in the computer and high-technology arenas, the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mathematics prepares students for employment in the mathematical sciences or for future study.

The Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS) in Philosophy focuses on Western philosophy and a thorough understanding of the systematic foundation of philosophical views. Philosophy degree students learn logic, languages, and the exegesis of texts and arguments.

The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology exposes students to a broad range of thinking about psychology, provides opportunities for research experience, and prepares graduates for a number of vocations or professional and graduate training programs.

The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Sociology develops strong analytic skills and a broad knowledge of human relations and social systems. The discipline provides useful tools for a variety of careers in law, business, social work, criminal justice, and policy impact analysis, among others.

For students who wish to complete their bachelor’s degree—and who have previously earned 52-64 transferable academic credits—the Undergraduate Degree Completion Program (UDCP) offers a unique, completely online curriculum covering the social sciences, humanities, and natural sciences.
