What is the difference between Metropolitan College's Convocation ceremony on Saturday, May 16, 2009 and the All-University Commencement ceremony on Nickerson Field, Sunday, May 17, 2009?

When and where will Metropolitan College's ceremony be held?
Metropolitan College's ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 16 at 6:00pm in the Track & Tennis Center, located at 100 Ashford Street, Boston, MA. Graduating students should arrive at 5:00pm.
There is no official limit on the number of guests that you may bring.
Are there tickets for either of the ceremonies?
There are no tickets for either ceremony.
Where do my guests and I park?
Guests are encouraged to use public transportation.
Shuttle buses will operate along Commonwealth Avenue before and after the Nickerson Field ceremony and will stop upon request.
Unless used as a site for a convocation, all University parking lots will be open except Babcock Street. Parking spaces are extremely limited for the All-University morning ceremony. Babcock Street will be open for the Metropolitan College evening ceremony.

How long will each of the ceremonies last?
The Metropolitan College ceremony will last approximately 2-1/2 hours. The Nickerson Field ceremony will last approximately 2 hours.
Do I have to go to the All-University ceremony if I only want to go to the Metropolitan College one?
Both ceremonies are optional and you may choose to attend either one
or both. Names will be read only at the MET ceremony.
You
are required to wear a cap
& gown to both ceremonies.
Do I need to apply for graduation?
Metropolitan College students must apply for graduation.

When and how do I get my diploma?
May 2009 graduates will be able to pick up diplomas immediately after the Metropolitan College ceremony. Please note that a photo ID is required. In rare cases, diplomas will not be available and may be picked up at or mailed by the Registrar's Office. May 2009 graduates who do not attend the ceremony should have completed the diploma and graduation information on the Student Link.
September 2008 and January 2009 graduates, if you do not have your diplomas already, make arrangements with the Registrar's Office to pick up your diploma or have it mailed to you.

Yearbooks are available to undergraduates. More information is available on the BU commencement website.
Is the ceremony being videotaped?
The All-University ceremony is videotaped but the Metropolitan College evening ceremony is not. Information about purchasing a video of the All-University ceremony is available in the Recording and Photographs section of the BU Commencement site. Still pictures will be taken at the Metropolitan College ceremony.
How do I receive information about ordering the picture that will be taken at the Metropolitan College ceremony?
Metropolitan College is using Commencement Photos, Inc. to take your picture as you walk across the podium and receive your diploma cover from the Dean. It may be a short time before any information reaches you because they communicate with all of the graduates. If you had restricted your address and have not given permission to release your address, please contact the Registrar's Office.
