General Admissions Requirements

In order to be considered for the Master of Science Degree in Project Management, offered online for UTC employees, applicants must demonstrate through their admissions essay that they can handle a rigorous, fast-paced curriculum and can play a unique role in the online classroom discussions. Students must have the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree to be considered for this program. International students for whom English is not a first language must submit the results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). For current information on the TOEFL examination, please visit www.ets.org/toefl. Applicants are expected to show good writing skills and strong professional reasons for pursuing this program. Candidates should emphasize a clear career strategy and explain through their brief admissions essay how this program will fit into their long-term career goals.

Good Academic Standing

Students admitted to the Master of Science Degree in Project Management must maintain an overall grade point average of 3.0 in each course to be in good academic standing in the degree program. No grade lower than B- may be used toward graduation requirements at Boston University. Faculty will work with students throughout the program to make certain that students are aware of their academic progress and any potential deficiencies.

Application Process

Rolling Admissions - Apply Before Registering for Courses

Courses begin every 7 weeks; however you must apply to the graduate certificate or master's degree to register for courses. Applications are accepted on a rolling admissions basis.

Apply to Boston University

Follow these steps to take advantage of the UTC Employee Scholar Program:

  1. Apply for the graduate certificate or degree (remember to request your undergraduate transcripts).
  2. Once you have been accepted to the graduate program, you must apply to UTC and activate the tuition benefit for your course. Please see tuition for payment instructions.
  3. Once you have been accepted into the program, you will receive an e-mail from our office of Distance Education with information on how to:
    a. set up your BU e-mail account
    b. create a Kerberos password
    c. order books
  4. Shortly before your first course begins, the Distance Education Student Services Coordinator will contact you with course log-in instructions.

Applicants must submit the following materials:

  • Graduate Degree application form
  • Official transcript, or notarized full-sized copy of transcript, from college or university where bachelor's degree was earned; must be sent in a sealed and stamped envelope to address below
  • Proof of English language proficiency for those who did not attend college in a country where English is the first language; original TOEFL® score must be submitted directly to address below
  • Admissions essay explaining motivation for study (500 words)
  • A current résumé
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • A nonrefundable $70 Master's application fee (please make check payable to Boston University or complete a Credit Card Authorization Form)
