The Boston University Online Master of Science in Computer Information Systems (MSCIS) is designed for working professionals who seek to advance their careers in the IT field. The MSCIS features concentrations in Information Security, IT Project Management, and Database and Knowledge Management—the fastest growing and highest paid segments of the IT job market.

The MSCIS will prepare you to:

The Boston University Online Master of Science in Computer Information Systems consists of ten required online courses that can be completed in less than two years of study. All students complete a set of six core courses in addition to four specialized courses that further develop expertise in Security, IT Project Management, or Database Management & Business Intelligence.

The concentration in Security provides students with:

  • In-depth knowledge of emerging security threats
  • Solutions to guarantee secure networks and computer systems
  • The ability to identify, develop, and implement highly secure networks that support organizational goals

The concentration in IT Project Management provides students with:

  • Preparation for a career as a project manager, systems analyst, designer, programmer, research manager, IT consultant, or administrator of technical projects

The concentration in Database Management and Business Intelligence provides students with:

  • The tools to utilize the vast amounts of information provided by large data groups
  • The skills to integrate information technology with business problems and opportunities
  • A thorough understanding of technological issues in addition to business concepts and fundamentals
  • The opportunity to use Oracle DBMS and to explore data warehousing and mining strategies
  • Preparation for a career as a database and knowledge modeler, designer, or developer
