MET Online Programs among Best in Nation, According to U.S. News

U.S. News & World Report has announced its 2015 rankings of Best Online Programs—and Metropolitan College has placed high with the Master of Criminal Justice (#2); the Master of Science in Computer Information Systems (#3); and the master’s degree programs in management (#9). While the MSCIS and management programs were ranked last year, this is the publisher’s first ranking of Best Online Graduate Criminal Justice Programs.

Arts Administration’s Richard Maloney on Jury for 2014 ENCATC Award

Assistant Professor and Director ad interim of Arts Administration Richard Maloney was a member of the award jury for the 2014 ENCATC Cultural Policy and Cultural Management Research Award, bestowed on Elodie Bordat, from Sciences Po Aix-en-Provence in France. ENCATC is the leading European network on cultural management and cultural policy education. The award ceremony—held in Brno, Czech Republic, as part of the 22nd ENCATC Annual Conference “New Challenges for Arts and Culture: Is it just about money?” (September 17–19, 2014)—recognized Ms. Bordat for the best recent PhD thesis on comparative cultural policies or management topics.

Blackboard Catalyst Award Winner

Blackboard’s Catalyst Award, Director’s Choice for Courses with Distinction, was given to Associate Professor and Chair of Computer Science Anatoly Temkin and Senior Instructional Designer Dan Hillman for Quantitative Methods for Information Systems, a core course in MET’s online master’s in Computer Information Systems.
As defined by Blackboard, the Catalyst Award “honors those who push the boundaries of their educational programs and technology in order to deliver innovative and effective learning experiences.” This is the fourth Catalyst Award BU has received from Blackboard since 2011.

MET Symposium Team Commissioned by the Boston Harbor Islands Partnership

Students enrolled in the Boston Urban Symposium, a capstone course for MET’s Master of City Planning and Master of Urban Affairs, recently completed a four-month review of the Boston Harbor Islands Partnership General Management Plan and delivered a recommendation that was accepted by the Partnership. In their report, the team highlighted key issues and advised specific actions ‘to keep the Boston Harbor Islands Partnership on the cutting-edge of policy and management trends within the National Park Service.’

MET represents BU on U.S. Department of Commerce education mission to Brazil

Katherine Dunkerley, assistant director of international business development for MET International, represented Boston University during the U.S. Department of Commerce’s historic education services mission exploring student recruitment and educational partnership opportunities in Brazil. Osher Re-entry Scholarship Fund Provides Financial Aid for Higher Ed Undergraduate Students.

Boston University’s Metropolitan College has just been announced as a recipient of the coveted Osher Reentry Scholarship Fund. Provided by the Bernard Osher Foundation, the scholarship provides financial assistance for undergraduate students who wish to return to higher education.
