Requirements

Note: Students pursuing the philosophy degree program may have to cross-register and take upper-level courses in the College of Arts and Sciences at day tuition rates.

Distribution Requirements
A total of 48 credits are required.

Mathematics
Four credits in a Metropolitan College math course numbered MET
   MA 110 or higher

Computer Science
MET CS 101 Computers and Their Applications

Natural Science
Eight credits in the natural sciences (N)

Literature
Four credits in a 100- or 200-level MET EN literature course or
   MET HU 210 or MET HU 221

History
Four credits

Additional Courses

Four credits in the humanities (H)
Four credits in the social sciences (S)
Four elective credits in the humanities (H), natural sciences (N),
   or social sciences (S)
Four elective credits in the natural sciences (N) or social sciences
   (S)

Specialization and Related Courses
A total of 64 credits completed with a grade of C or higher are required.

Required Courses
20 credits:

MET PH 101 Basic Problems of Philosophy or MET PH 110 Great
   Philosophers
MET PH 160 Reasoning and Argumentation
MET PH 300 History of Ancient Philosophy
MET PH 310 History of Modern Philosophy
Four philosophy credits at the 400-level

Plus 16 philosophy credits chosen with the advice and approval of the department coordinator. Students wishing to pursue a philosophy program must cross-register and take upper-level philosophy and/or related courses in the College of Arts and Sciences at day tuition rates.

Related Courses
Choose 28 credits with the advice and approval of the department coordinator. At least 12 credits must be at the 300-level or above. Students are encouraged to plan programs that combine philosophy with other disciplines in the humanities or in the social and natural sciences.

Electives
Choose 16 credits with the advice and approval of the department coordinator.
