Events & Conferences was established in the spring of 2009 to provide improved, comprehensive, and consistent event coordination services to the University community and to guests to the BU campus.
Our staff impacts events at Boston University in a number of different ways.
- As event coordinators, we offer groups assistance and guidance in planning events at any University location.
- As venue managers, we schedule events and provide necessary event services at the venues we oversee.
- As service providers, we help groups reserve venues and provide production support to events in various locations on campus.
- And as operations managers, we oversee the summer transformation of BU residential facilities into conference housing for national and international conferences, welcoming thousands of guests to the BU campus every summer.
Places you’ll find us
The Castle: E&C staff oversee operations of this historic University building, planning events such as weddings, dinners, meetings, and receptions.
Summer Housing: During the summer months, BU residential facilities are transformed and provide housing to conference guests utilizing the varied range of BU academic and event locations. Annual conferences include Massachusetts Special Olympics, Boston Ballet School, TABS (The Association of Boarding Schools), Police Executive Research Forum, and Cannon Financial. We also welcome both new students and their parents to campus during weekly Orientation programming throughout the summer months.
Tsai Performance Center: As the premier performance location on campus, the Tsai Center has a management and production staff ready to assist you with all programming scheduled here. We offer services from lighting, sound, and media support to usher and box office services. Above and beyond daily CAS classes and CFA rehearsals, the Tsai Center hosts dance performances, music concerts, lectures, films, student programming, operas, and theatrical performances.
Student Production Services: One of the newer areas to E&C, SPS offers production support to student programming on-campus. With a student production team of 25, SPS works with registered SAO groups in producing events anywhere on campus. Our largest events happen in the George Sherman Union Metcalf Ballroom and the SAC Gym, but you’ll find us handling tech requirements for events in nearly any room on campus.
University Reservations: E&C staff schedule BU facilities for departments and students. Working with the Registrar, they assist groups in finding the right venue for their meetings, conferences, and special events. As part of the BU community, you can reserve a room on campus by submitting an online request form and a member of the Reservations staff will get back to you on scheduling possibilities.
