Research

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is a full-featured academic unit featuring 45 faculty dedicated to undergraduate instruction and active in a variety of research topics ranging from Acoustic levitation to Zero-G sonoluminescence.
Several ME faculty have joint appointments in other departments and participate in the newly created BU Division of Material Science and Engineering and Division of Systems Engineering.
The research activity in the department covers applied and basic research, cuts across disciplines, and offers students both breadth and depth. We invite you to browse our Research Group pages (listed below) as well as to learn about our Affiliated Research Centers.
