ME Alumni Involved with Successful Mars Rover Landing
NASA’s rover landing on Mars was a huge success early Monday morning on August 6, 2012. The $2.6 billion rover named Curiosity was a result of a talented team of engineers and scientist. Two of those engineers are our very own Anita Sengupta (B.S. Aero’98) and Matthew Heverly (M.S. ME’05.)
On-Point, National Public Radio program, had a feature story on the Mars rover, http://onpoint.wbur.org/2012/07/26/seven-minutes-of-terror . About seven minutes into the segment, you can hear Anita Sengupta’s interview.
Matthew Heverly has had the honor of being the driver of Curiosity. You can find out more about his endeavor at http://gizmodo.com/5931298/talk-to-the-man-who-drives-the-26-billion+dollar.
