The American Mathematical Society announced that Professor Margaret Beck
has been awarded the inaugural AMS Joan and Joseph Birman Fellowship for
Women Scholars for the 2018-2019 academic year in recognition of her
exceptional research on stability problems in partial differential
equations and spatially-extended, infinite-dimensional dynamical systems.

The Sloan Foundation announced yesterday that Professor Jennifer
Balakrishnan was awarded a Sloan Foundation Research Fellowship in
Mathematics.
This is a prestigious award given to the top 18-20 young, tenure-track
assistant professors each year, across all areas of the mathematical
sciences in the US and Canada.
Jennifer has been recognized for her pioneering research in Number Theory.

statistics and its applications, Professor Eric Kolaczyk has been elected
as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Professor Eric Kolaczyk has been elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics. He has been recognized for his pioneering contributions to the development of wavelet-based statistical methods and of multi-scale statistical methods, as well as for his more recent transformative research advancing both the development and application of statistical methods for data on networks.

Professor Stephen Grossberg has been named the recipient of the 2017 IEEE Frank Rosenblatt Award for his contributions to understanding brain
cognition and behavior and their emulation by technology.
Awarded annually since 2004, this prize recognizes outstanding scientists who have made contributions to biologically and linguistically motivated computational paradigms and systems.
