Director of Undergraduate Studies — Job Description

Oversee all components of the departmental undergraduate curriculum.

Oversee and update regularly the inventory of undergraduate courses in
mathematics and statistics for each academic year.

Coordinate the faculty advising of undergraduate students majoring
in Mathematics in the Pure & Applied track, and in all of the joint
Mathematics and X majors.

Work with the Undergraduate Program Administrator
on all administrative aspects related to the undergraduate advising,
curriculum, and degree programs.

Serve as the primary liaison for curriculum and instructional topics with
our many sister departments in ENG, CAS Natural Sciences, CAS Social
Sciences, CAS Humanities, Kilachand, Questrom, Sargent, SED, MET, and COM.

Chair the departmental Undergraduate Committee.

Oversee the department’s numeracy project.

Serve as the main departmental resource for faculty who encounter academic
misconduct cases.

Serve as the Department liaison to the CAS Academic Conduct Committee.

In conjunction with the Staff Coordinator,
oversee the textbook ordering for all undergraduate courses.

Oversee the program in which undergraduate students carry out Work for
Distinction Projects and Honors Projects.

In collaboration with the Associate Director of the Statistics Program,
select the recipients of the graduation awards and prizes for
undergraduate majors.

With the Undergraduate Program Administrator, oversee the
Program Student Learning Outcomes Assessment for the undergraduate degree

Serve on the departmental Executive Committee.
