Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial statue titled "Free at Last"
Winter 1975

Dedicated on May 16, 1975, the memorial to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., distinguished graduate of Boston University, consists of 50 doves created from curved metal plates. Each of the fifty doves represents an American state, and their virtual convergence in an upward direction is a symbol of the perpetuation of Dr. King's dream. Quotations from Dr. King occupy three sides of the stone base.
