Campus Information & Visitor Relations (CIVR) is the central source for information about Boston University for the BU community and the general public. The main objective of the department is to enhance and improve internal communication at the University by gathering, organizing, and delivering basic institutional information. Through extensive contact with all segments of the University community (students, faculty/staff, alumni, parents) and the general public, the department actively promotes the University's public image. CIVR is responsible for ensuring that University-wide publications, including BU Facts, the Campus Map, the BU Directory, the BU Timeline and the BU Calendar and a comprehensive record of Key University Administrators are kept entirely accurate and up-to-date.
The Boston University Information Center, staffed by CIVR Communication Specialists, responds to over 100,000 inquiries each year from the BU community and the general public. Questions are answered in person, over the telephone, through online chat, and via AskUs@bu.edu. All inquiries from BU alumni regarding the Alumni Online Community are also handled at the Information Center. In addition, CIVR has an augmented role during special events that bring large numbers of visitors to campus, including Move-in Weekend, Parent’s Weekend and Commencement.
CIVR is responsible for coordinating the Warren Towers display space, where different groups on campus may reserve a display case for publicizing their events. Please visit the online reservation form to reserve a display case and to review guidelines.
CIVR manages tours of the Boston University Experience for faculty, staff, current students, and University guests. The BU Experience is a unique and compelling 25-minute one-of-a-kind multimedia presentation showcasing the University’s long-standing tradition of academic excellence and leadership for social change.
