All students on the Madrid Programs will be hosted and enjoy a great experience living with Spanish families. Host families linked to BU Madrid range from single señoras to larger families, such as couples with young or grown-up children and even grandparents.
Students may indicate their preferences for home stays (location, type of family, special diet, allergies, etc.) on the housing questionnaire before program departure. These forms are extremely helpful in matching students with families.
We collaborate only with families that will offer personalized attention to our students, such as by preparing food for special diets (vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.) or by taking care of their students if a problem such as an illness or other emergency arises. Host families are located in the central neighborhoods of Madrid, which span a wide portion of the city, and are always close to a metro stop and easily reached by other types of public transportation.
All students will have their own rooms and the main meals of the day that include breakfast, lunch and dinner. We encourage students to have meals, specially dinners, with their families, sharing time and good conversations with them. Kitchen access is not available.
