  2. Is it possible to complete the practicum and thesis after I finish the 32-credit course requirement?
  3. How many credits must part-time students register for each semester?

  5. How many courses can a student take at the School of Public Health or another Boston University Department that will count towards the MACI program?
  6. Can I use my practicum as credits toward the 32 credits necessary to complete my degree?

In most cases, the clinical investigation practicum is completed in addition to the 32 credits required for the degree. However, you may register for up to 8 credits or 2 semester courses of practicum and/or directed study to be used towards the 32 credit requirement. The number of credits that you may use for practicum or in directed study is determined on a student by student basis. Your academic advisor needs to approve these credits and sign the appropriate paperwork through the Division of Graduate Medical Sciences office.

Please note a couple of examples when you might use the practicum towards the 32 credit requirement:

    • If you complete one or more course requirements prior to matriculation and acquire "advanced standing," then you may register for a maximum of 2 semester courses (8 credits) of practicum and/or directed study.
    • If you complete all of the required courses and one 2 credit elective course, you may use practicum credits to complete remaining elective credits.
  7. If a student registers for directed study or practicum would it count toward the 8 course requirement?
  8. Is there a dual MACI/MPH program?
  9. What are the career paths for MACI graduates?
  10. I work full-time. When are your courses offered?
  11. I have specific research interests. Can I tailor the MACI program toward these interests?
  12. I would like to learn more about the field of clinical investigation and career opportunities in this area? What do you suggest?
  13. Am I eligible to take a certification exam after completion of the MACI program?
