Lutheran/Catholic Dialogue at Boston University
The American Heritage Dictionary defines dialogue as both "a conversation between two or more people" and "an exchange of ideas or opinions: achieving constructive dialogue with all political elements." By blending conversation with the goal of constructive results, the BU Lutheran/Catholic Dialogue, jointly sponsored by The Catholic Center and Lutheran Campus Ministry, offers something more than rhetoric.
In four sessions during the fall and winter, we will meet to discuss our religious traditions, learning from one another and seeking understanding of each other's ideas, approaches, and disciplines. The Church's recognition of agreements concerning justification will be our starting point. And we will find ways, despite our differences, to pray together for our selves, the world, and all the Church. This will be experienced uniquely in a Spring Break Pilgrimage to Europe.
During our time abroad, we will visit the World Council of Churches headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland and travel to the ecumenical community of Taizé in France. A short visit to the ruins of the famed Cluny monastery will also be included.
