The Paula Menyuk Travel Award was established in honor of Paula Menyuk, Professor Emerita at Boston University's School of Education and one of the founders of BUCLD, to assist student presenters at the Boston University Conference on Language Development by offsetting some of their travel expenses. The awards are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health, as well as by private donations.

Several stipends of up to $400 will be awarded to students who attend the 2007 BUCLD, who are authors on accepted or alternate papers, and who demonstrate financial need. Preference is given to first authors who have not previously presented at BUCLD.

Applications for the travel grants may be downloaded from this website and submitted via electronic or snail mail.

All applications must be received no later than September 23, 2007 in order to be included for consideration.

Note: Notifications will be sent out to individuals as we process them and the previous deadline of October 3rd is now void.

For BUCLD 32, eligible applicants must:  

• Be an author of a paper or poster accepted for presentation or alternate status at BUCLD. Note that authors of accepted (rather than alternate) papers or posters will be given priority. Be an undergraduate or graduate student of good standing in the fall semester of 2007. Note that post-doctoral fellows are not eligible.
• Complete and mail the application via e-mail (preferred) or snail mail. All applications must be received by September 23, 2007. Note that late applications will not be considered, regardless of the reason for their lateness.
  (* Letters of recommendation are NOT required and will not be read. Please do not send any information other than what is requested on the application form.)

Payment Procedure:

The award recipient will be reimbursed after the conference for a portion of their travel expenses upon submission of their plane ticket/receipts to the BUCLD Travel Chair. Note that ONLY FLIGHTS ON UNITED STATES CARRIERS CAN BE REIMBURSED. Please contact us if it is not possible or convenient for you to fly with a United States carrier.
