1 . Let's assume your professor has asked you to find some resources such as books or journal articles for a paper you've been assigned. Using the library website, how would you begin?
User's response comments: Student said he would type something in the article search box. The typed an example search and got results from Academic OneFile.

Using the library website, can you tell if the library has
any books written by Al Gore?
User's response/comments: clicked on databases, went back, clicked on the books tab, entered gore and got search results.

3. Using the library website, can you find the Journal of the North Atlantic online?
User's response/comments: clicked on the eJournal Locator, entered north atlantic online and was unsuccessful. Went to the catalog and searched north atlantic online.
Observers Comment: there was some confusion about the title of this journal. We slightly reworded this question to be more clear and we provided users with a sheet of paper that had the title written on it.
Successful: no, but this was because of the confusion about the title. The student did go to the eJournal Locator first thing. |

Follow up question: If successful using the article search box, follow this up with, "That's a good place to find articles, where else might you look."
Users's response/comments: clicked on databases, "not sure which subject to choose," back, clicked on research by subject, found guide for stem cells and clicked on a journal listed in that guide.

8. Can you find the home page for the Science & Engineering Library?
Observers response/comments: clicked on other library catalogs, back, clicked on databases, back, clicked on the books tab and then the virtual catalog, back, then back to the virtual catalog, entered log in information, back home.

9. What do you find useful on the library's website?
Observers response/comments: Easy to find articles--very general for beginning stuff. You can get more specific with the databases. Research guides are useful for general topics.
10. How would you change the library's
website to make it more useful for you?
Observers response/comments: Make separate libraries easier to find. The links on the top of the page (in nav bar) are small.
